As DeKalb County State's Attorney, I will bring to the job more than three decades of experience serving the people of DeKalb County in many different roles - from front line law enforcement, to more than seven years as a prosecutor (in DeKalb and Jo Daviess Counties), and more than 20 years as a lawyer in private practice and as a volunteer working to better our community. All of these things will inform how I do the job of DeKalb County State's Attorney and make me the best choice for the job, because experience matters!
- 5 years as a DeKalb County Sheriff's Deputy
- 2 years as a police officer in Waterman
- 1 year working undercover for the North Central Nacotics Task Force
- 4 Years as a prosecutor for the DeKalb County States Attorney's Office handling criminal cases
- 3+ Years as the First Assistant State's Attorney in Jo Daviess County handling all criminal cases and advising the county board
Attorney at Law
- 6 years at the Illinois Guardianship and Advocacy Commission proiding leal advice and representation to protect the legal rights of children and adults with disabilities. (1998-2004)
- More than 20 years as a lawyer in private practice concentrating on legal representation for families with special needs children with a focus on guardianship, estate plannning and issures related to Medicaid and Medicare planning. (2004-present)
- More than a decade of probono work for:
- CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate Program) providing legal assistants to the advocates who represent children who have experienced abuse or neglect;
- Hope Haven Homeless Shelter representing women and children who are homless and/or have experienced abuse or neglect;
- Prarie State Legal Services providing legal advice and representation to those who cannot afford legal counsel.

- Elected member of the DeKalbCounty Regional Board of School Trustees
Educator
- 8 years as a part-time adjunct instructor in the paralegal program at Elgin Community College (2002-2010)
- More than 11 years as a part-time adjunct professor in the criminal justice program at Kiswaukee College (1993-present)
